:( Alert…!!! Ransomware :(
Readers stay alert whenever you do something or download from internet which you think is not good. Never download such things coz Ransomware is on his way.
Hii I am Prinal, writing this blog on real story with a crucial ransomware attack. This happened with one of my friend in last week. He approached me to format his laptop totally. We did this in afternoon however after rebooting it was working so fine. By evening he gave me a call, indespite he was so shock and threatened and asked me to come over as soon as possible. By some time when I reached home he asked me to check his laptop where his files were locked, encrypted with password. We couldn’t open it, but we find there a readme.txt file which supposed to be not there. We opened, it was really shocking for us to see that a ransomware has been installed in his laptop.
This was the message from that readme.txt file. The name of ransomware is ORKF Ransomware which was supposedly downloaded from a popular website which has cracked softwares i.e getintopc.com
My friend downloaded a software name as Adobe Photoshop which was just 11 mb and co incidently he opened it which leads to persistent attack of encryption to his files. Moreover we searched for decryption key on nomoreransom.org website but we couldn’t find it or else no where.
The final thing was just to format the entire laptop with files again. Where he lost all his work load which he created in past 3 years. This blog is just for all readers to stay safe from this kind of suspicious links.
Things to remember are:
- Never approach for free softwares from pirated websites like getintopc.com
- Either you find it just check its properties and file size. If its genuine then its okay but do check.
- And most important, Install a good Antivirus(Quick Heal Total Security recommended) which will scan the binded app or software to any file if its malicious.
